"We can't keep this one up forever!" he called to John, "We should go after that civilian!"

"Cover me then," John said as he yelled and charged through the enemy rank before reaching the civilian, "you alright?" he asked as the man nodded, "follow me closely," as he began to fight his way back to safety.

Simon did his best to provide cover fire, but the Grinders were getting far too thick. Simon was forced to head towards John and the man, instead of standing his ground.

John dodged a blade as he parried it and stabbed the Grinder in the gut, before he then did an uppercut that sent it flying, "Any ideas?" he asked when he re-joined Simon. They were still a good distance away from base and he couldn't order a general attack, too many Grinders.

"I don't think they'll let us out," he said, looking around, "If we could get to a building, we could plan."

"Yeah well the only buildings in our area are either demolished, or half demolished," John said, "we could try to split them up, make their forces smaller then we can fight the smallest and make a dash for it."

"I'd rather take chances in a half-run down building," Simon said, "At least it gives us options."

"Point," John said as he retreated back into the half-run down building, although it wouldn't give them protection for long, he just hoped it was long enough to form a plan.

Simon went in first, but there were no Grinders in sight, "Upstairs," he suggested, "Height can give us an advantage."

"Yeah," John said covering the rear as the civilian followed Simon, he also barred the door to keep the Grinders out at least for a while before joining Simon.

Part of the upper wall was blown out, giving them a view of the street.
"Ok...," Simon said, out of ideas. Call Levy or Marion, have them come in for air support to get them out?

"We could get an artillery barrage here, that'll probably help, it's close enough," John suggested, "I would call for an air strike, but I don't want to take chances that the Grinders have something that can bring down planes, or turn it against us."

He nodded. That was a danger here, the unknown. It was always a danger.
"We could stay here and I could shoot open a path for you two," Simon offered.

"That'll take too long," John said, "you shoot one down, two more takes its place, we need another way."

"It's all I can think of, unless we ask Levy or Marion for a lift from the sky."
