Overview: The Man in Red is an enigma. It is very difficult to decipher what he's thinking, and it would be very bad if you ever found out what he was thinking. He likes to keep the upper hand at all times. He does try to keep his emotions in check as much as he can, though his rage is terrible to behold.

History
The little that can be gleamed of the Man in Red's backstory, is very rich in detail. He came from the 23rd century, and was a Sentai Senshi in his own right. He was the Red Senshi and leader of Rebel Sentai NeonMan, a team fighting for independence in a civil-war torn future. Together, the team brought freedom to the world again. During his tour of duty, the Man in Red came across a secret. Something no man should ever have laid eyes on. A prophecy regarding the end of the world.
He was forever changed by the discovery of the secret. One by one, he took the powers of his teammates, and killed them for good measure. It wasn't enough. He believed himself to be the one the prophecy mentioned that would have the power to stop it, and he needed more power. To that end, he found the headquarters of the future Tomorrow Project, and stole a second-gen Mobirates and a Ranger Key from there. He was caught by the Time Legion, and sent forward through time to pay for his murders. Indeed, he escaped and disguised himself as the Senshi whose key he had stolen before the World ended. He took two under his wing and taught them in the ways of Sentai before sending them through time, where they unwittingly found him new sources of power.

"2012." the Man in Red hissed. "The pinnacle of human civilisation in the 21st century. I see why they came here." Of course, the Time Shadow left a very definitive temporal signature. It made his job of travelling through time a lot easier. The technology in this time was still fairly primitive, so he could move about undetected.
And the heroes. Yes, there were several heroes here. All of them strong, and powerful. Their power happened to be just what he needed. Then he could fulfill his role in the prophecy, and the future could be averted.
In a strange sense, he was doing the Jonas siblings a kindness.
