Overview:
Haru is a teacher of philosophy, having a different outlook on life than most people. He’s stopped living, fearing age, and seems to be stuck as who he is, wishing to do things, but wondering how long he’s going to live. He may only be in his late thirties, but he fears death soon, he fears his power is aging and killing him faster, and is right. He’s philosophical and will sometimes make comments of that regard. He has a respect for the younger generation, and a desire to do things he hasn’t. He enjoys conversation with others and talking about life and their own pursuits, especially talking about the things he wishes to do, but doesn’t talk about why he can’t and doesn’t. He knows his fear is irrational, but it makes enough sense to him. Age will kill him, he feels like his power is killing him faster, he fears age. He’s stopped living. He’s an intelligent man, and he believes in this firmly. He has a bout of fatalism as a result of all of this.

History
Haru was born to a father who was a doctor, and his mother died in childbirth. During his time growing up he started to wonder if his mother’s death was his fault. His father never remarried, and Haru had no siblings. It was just them.
Haru became introverted and thoughtful for a time. This thoughtfulness would carry him to his future as a philosophy teacher. After high school he finally came to accept that this wasn’t his fault, only keeping that thought because his father wasn’t around much, and they were never able to talk. And when he was around, Haru had always had thought there was animosity from his father towards him.
Finally he chose teaching. He chose to believe it wasn’t his fault, and that if his father was angry or not didn’t matter. He couldn’t do anything about it. He ended up becoming a teacher after ending high school. He chose philosophy and spent a few years learning to become one, then going to find a job.
He ended up in a university, teaching at first a small class. The class size later grew at least, and he enjoyed a number of years happy there. Eventually he found out that his father had died of a tumor that he had kept to himself, thus leaving Haru alone in the world, no relatives at all to see.
As he grew to thirty five he found a strange object in his mail one day. He didn’t know what it was, why it was sent to him, or anything. The package was unmarked, so he didn’t know if he was even the intended recipient. But he opened it and found a sword necklace. He felt bonded to it and began to wear it, eventually finding its power when a woman was attacked on the street by a mugger.
He became “AkibaKnight” for the first time, for some reason wielding that title without knowing why. He spent the next three years wielding this power, but learned quickly that something was wrong. He felt weaker, sicker after using it. He started to wonder if the power was killing him.
He put it aside for long periods of time, locking it in his safe. But he still grew weaker at times. He went to a doctor, but nothing was wrong with him. He knew it was the power of the sword doing it to him, so he decided to use it always, any time he had to, if he was weakening regardless.
He’s chosen in life to stop living. To stop experiencing new events. He’s stuck as he was three years ago, when he received the sword. He wants to live as he was, and now keeps fighting for the sake of his students, and everyone else.

“I stopped living before I grew old.”
“What sense does that make?” one of his private students asked him.
He set down his cup of tea, “It makes sense,” he told his student, “Trust me, it makes sense.”
“You’re not old, sensei,” his student said.
A soft, forlorn smile came to Haru’s face, “I’m happy you would say that, but the truth is…,” he shook his head, “I don’t even know the truth anymore.”
“Is this something I’ll understand as I grow?” he asked, “Or could this be a midlife crisis?”
“Let’s call it something else,” he said, leaving it at that, “Let’s just…not call it anything, other than my life.”
