His sword energized right before contact, if only to be sure that his sword didn't get cut apart on contact. He twisted his body to go bladed again, and kicked out at his apprentice's shin.

Dekar tripped and fell to the ground, only to push himself back up and strike at Rai's chestplate.

He grabbed his barrier generator and threw up a barrier with his left hand, while grabbing at the thicker gauntlet with his right.

Once he had the gauntlet affixed to his right, he dropped the barrier and came up with a punch, sending a projection of energy from it instead of going for a physical punch.
