A Gala to Remember (Jack)

[Sam and Miguel]

Lisabetta, to say the least, was bored. Being a well-renowned professor of history did have it's benefits, as she did get invited to this gala in the New York Museum of Natural History. However, there was no one to talk to. No one interesting, at least. Everyone only wanted to talk about their kids, or their considerably longer lives, and Lisabetta just had to smile and nod.
She stood by the bar, her floor-length gown shimmering as she sipped her wine.

[Jack Drake]

Jack walked among the others, clad in his well tailored suit. He raised a drink with a man, laughing with him before moving on, his face going from amusement to boredom. He put up a good appearance from time to time with these people, but it wasn't something he particularly liked.

He was here because it was for the best of the Foundation. They could secure some donors, and possibly obtain some information on artifacts. Or he could arrange to sell artifacts here, to the museum, or to private collectors.

He walked vaguely in the direction of the bar, finishing his drink and passing it off to a waiter to deal with, thrusting his hands into his pockets as he walked a bit, looking around at the people, stopping a few yards away from the bar to speak to another man.

Lisabetta set her glass down on the bar and noticed the man. He was about as well dressed as everyone else here, but he seemed... different. Just something about him intrigued Lisabetta, and she hadn't even seen his face. She began to gravitate closer to him, the bartender refilling her wine.

[Jack Drake]

He smiled to the other man and continued discussions, "No, I'm telling you that I was there. That tomb is empty."

"The pharaoh hid his treasures in a secret compartment under his final resting place," the man argued.

"And I'm telling you, I was there. I looked under it," Jack said, not getting anywhere with this man, needing a way out.

[Sam and Miguel]

"And which pharaoh would this be, exactly?" Lisabetta asked, sliding in and inserting herself into the conversation.

[Jack Drake]

The older man was about to say something, but Jack interrupted, sliding his arm around her, "Please, excuse us," he told the older man, "Kate doesn't really like it when I talk about work," he said, gently bringing the woman along as he left the man.

[Sam and Miguel]

"And I just provided you a way out of the conversation entirely unwillingly." Lisabetta said, half-smiling at Jack. "We haven't even met, and you've already assigned me a name."

[Jack Drake]

"First thing that came to mind," he told her, "Jack Drake."

"Lisabetta Greystone. I've heard your name before. Care to enlighten me as to where a humble history professor would have heard your name?" Lisabetta said, gesturing to herself.

[Jack Drake]

Throwing it out to everyone

"I'm a treasure hunter," he said, "Maybe you've heard of my daring adventures and explorations."

[Sam and Miguel]

"A modern day Indiana Jones? Sorry, not quite doing it for me. I don't keep track of current news. It's a flaw of mine." Lisabetta said, knowing full well who he was the moment he introduced himself. She was just humoring him.

[Jack Drake]

"I also run the Drake Foundation," he said.

[Sam and Miguel]

Lisabetta snapped her fingers. "The archaeological group? You guys traipse all over the place and find old artifacts, right?"

[Jack Drake]

"More or less," he said.

[Sam and Miguel]

"I may not keep current, but I have heard of you guys. Very interesting. Seems like a fun job."
