History
Roger was born a farmers boy in Medieval England, first practicing with a play sword at the age of 6. He grew more and more skilled, continuing to practice when he apprenticed to the town blacksmith. At 13, he won the melee at a tourney thrown in the local lord's honor, and his skill with swords was noticed. He was made the squire of Sir Morgan Cutley, the local knight, and became a knight when he turned 18. As he traveled and did knightly stuffs, he began to gain a well-earned title, the Master of Blades. It was all but known that Roger was the greatest swordsman in the known world, which is why he was called to the quest that would change his life forever.
In 1489, word came of an attack on a nearby castle by the Jack of Blades, a mythical man known as Hell's Greatest Swordsman. He had single-handedly taken the castle by force, killing the guards and holding the rest captive in an attempt to open a portal to Hell. The local lord dispatched Sir Roger to deal with it, as he was the only man skilled enough to even so much as stand a chance. Upon entering the castle, Sir Roger was immediately engaged by the Jack of Blades. The resulting fight lasted almost 2 days, but at the end, Sir Roger managed to kill the Jack. He freed the captives and took the Jack's mask back to The Lord to prove he had killed him. As a reward for this momentous feat, the king himself called on Sir Roger and offered to make him into Lord Roger, offering him a piece of land. Lord Roger made his coat-of-arms a painting of the Jack's mask and began to take it into battle, as a badge of honor. He noticed that whenever he had the Mask touching his body, he could fight with a renewed vigor. However, it began to go downhill around then.
Two years after his fight with the Jack, his castle was attacked by a demonic horde seeking to reclaim the Mask. Lord Roger fought valiantly, but they soon breached his keep and he was surrounded. As a final desperate measure, the pulled the Mask onto his face, and the magic of the Mask flowed into his body, turning him into the new Jack of Blades. The demons bowed to him, and when he ordered them to leave, they did. As a result of this, his wife left him, lands and title were stripped from him and he was put on trial for witchcraft and heresy. Before he could be brought before the court, however, he attempted to kill himself by falling on his own sword. He failed to do that, but was sent into a sort of "stasis" for several hundred years, while the Mask worked to fix his body.
He awoke during World War 1. He noticed that his body, which had been the body of a 40 year old man before, was now that of a 25-year-old. He joined the British Army and fought in the war as he slowly learned to control the powers of the Jack of Blades, on occasion interfering in battles to ensure British victory. When WW1 ended, he emigrated to America and began living there, getting a job as a sword fighting instructor. He joined up with the American army when WW2 broke out, fighting on the Pacific front. He became known for his skill with swords, and one week, a few of his comrades gave him the Sevenblade. They said they had found it in a raid on a Japanese POW camp, in the possession of the camp's commanding officer, and they figured he could get some use out of it. Roger accepted the gift graciously. He also became friends with one of the gun nuts of the group, and this guy gave him the rifle he uses to this day as a gift for V-J Day.
Once the war ended, Roger turned into a drifter. He wandered aimlessly across the country, occasionally fighting as Jack of Blades, until he managed to defend a bank from a robbery in 1960, while wearing his mask. He became quite famous for this act. He decided to become a mercenary, so that he could defend the weak. He enlisted the help of a friend from the service in WW2, setting up a telephone number to call him if someone needed his services. As he worked, he became a legend, becoming known merely as "The Master", the mercenary to end all mercenaries. He moved fast enough to dodge bullets, and eliminated even the best crews in minutes with deadly force. He took jobs all over the world, from helping to defend military convoys from attack to foiling robberies to once even clearing a small town of people dealing something called "Black Satan" within the last few years. He remains the stuff of legends to this very day.

Sample RP: "10 men walk into a bank, and 10 will walk out rich." The leader of the crew said as he and his 9 compatriots walked into the darkened bank. They were robbing one of the largest banks in the city if New York, after months of planning and preparation.
"Your numbers are off." A voice echoed from the rafters. "11 men walked into this bank, and one will walk out alive."
The 10 men immediately all pulled out guns. "Who's there?" The leader asked the darkness.
"Your end." The voice replied. A shot rang out, and one man dropped dead to the floor.
"Find him! He just killed Rick!" The leader muttered, and the men arranged into a circle. A figure bristling with weapons dropped into the center of the circle, producing two blades and stabbing two through the neck.
"Hello, gentlemen." The figure said, retrieving his blades and bowing deeply. The men all turned, surrounding him.
"That mask... They knew we were coming, and they pulled out all the stops." The leader said. "Guys, shoot him."
"Feel free to try." The figure said, before seeming to vanish. Suddenly, the guns flew from the men's hands, and he reappeared. "Why bring a gun to a sword fight?"
"God dammit, die!" The leader muttered, pulling out a knife and charging. The man produced a short blade, disarmed the man and stabbed him in the throat, all in one motion. He did the sign of the Cross before pulling it out, then two more times.
"Jesus ain't gonna save you now." Another robber growled.
"Prayers for the wicked must not be ignored." The man said simply.
"We've given up the ghost, pal. It's no use." The robber said, charging with a knife. He received a blade to the throat.
"It is not for your souls I fear," he said, crossing himself again before pulling the blade out, "it is mine own."
The rest of the men all charged at once. The man burst into motion, spinning into a crouch, disarming every man at once before eliminating them with blade strikes to the throat.
"Good Lord, forgive me for this blood I shed." The man said, taking off his mask and dropping to his knees in prayer.
