"As it is, nobody really knows me. I've got a few friends, and my coworkers, but...I don't know, I just don't feel really complete. I've no legacy. I'm just...a passing breeze." He said, a melancholy tone to his voice.

"I'll be your friend," she offered him.

"Thanks. That...that really means a lot to me." He choked back a few tears, spawned from a mix of pain and joy.

"Nobody should be without friends," she told him.

Kakeru smiled, hiding a wince from pain. "You're right. Companionship is the only thing that can truly bring happiness."

"Maybe," she said. Not sure if that was the only thing.

Kakeru sighed. The pain was finally subsiding, as his body healed at an accelerated rate. He'd likely be back to full in roughly an hour, but until then, the pain would still remain, and only slowly diminish. "Well, there's probably something else that I just can't see."

"Who knows, maybe I just need someone to open my eyes." He laughed, cringing a bit.

Kakeru smiled. "Maybe...you could be the one to open my eyes."

"I...I don't know. I think I might just need to spend less time working, and more time enjoying myself, before it's too late...and I thought...maybe...I could spend it....with you." He paused a few times near the end. Despite his normally smooth personality, he was actually being a bit timid.

Kakeru smiled, barely managing to speak again. "Brilliant." As the word rolled from his lips, his consciousness faded, his body going lax.
