Hajime was taking his leave from a Gamble Parlor; it was the middle of the night and the moon was clearly visible as snow lightly fell outside on the streets of the city. He closed his eye, grinning with glee as he felt his pockets full of money--oh how it felt great to work his magic, getting a lot of winnings and bringing in the dough as they said. Of course this feeling was only temporary, soon enough he would become bored; and with boredom meant that if he didn't satisfy himself and rid himself of boredom anytime soon--then bad things would only happen. Not to him of course, just to the people around him. Don't get it? He'd go on a killing spree.

The jingle of a nearby mini mart door rang in the air as Mikan exited the store, plastic bag in hand. She seemed satisfied as she gazed in the contents in her bag,
"Never can have too much tea~..." she smiled a bit, going and closing the bag before and walking into the dead of night. One would think it'd be dangerous for a young woman to go out in the middle of the night alone, especially one who looked considerably vulnerable. However, Mikan was not just any ordinary girl.

"Hm, I wonder what I should do with all this money." He thought aloud, Hajime tapped his foot some as he raised a brow. Questioning his options, "Let's see, I could just go on a spending spree, get my ass wasted, or even save it... Nahhh..." He laughed at his last option. "Worry about the money later, let's find something fun to do." He said as he grinned slowly. Hearing a rather cute voice, he perked up and eyed the direction in which Mikan was coming from, now who was this rather precious looking girl?

Mikan continued walking along, not really taking any notice to Hajime. She was just excited to get back to her apartment and brew some tea for this cold winter weather.

"Excuse me, Miss? A moment of your time, please!" Hajime called out as he approached her, a cheery smile on his face. He had his left hand in his pocket, clenching upon the deck of cards tucked away.

"I have a question I wish to ask you. A rather serious one, so please take it as such." He pulled out a deck of cards in his hands, smiling innocently still. "Would you say that Gambling has the power to change the life of an individual?" He asked her.

Mikan placed a hand on her chin, going and thinking about what he said. She had never gambled herself, due to being a year younger than the legal gambling age, but looked at him. "I believe so..." she said, answering honestly.

Hajime smiled wider, pleased with her answer. He closed his eyes and cleared his throat; holding a finger up and pointing it to the sky as he went to speak again, "Then how about a game? The rules are simple, draw the top card from this deck--If its the Joker card, you lose, but if its anything else you win. How about it?"

"Very well! Then draw the card." He held his arm out, the deck of cards sitting perfectly within his hand. Smiling oh-so-innocently as he awaited her to draw the card.

Mikan went and placed her hand on the deck, slowly but surely she went and pulled the top card off.

The card she drew was... the Joker card! When Hajime noticed her expression shift, he grinned, "So, what card did you draw?" He asked her, "Please, if you would show me."

"I'm sorry to hear that miss. Its quite unfortunate to draw a Joker, did you know? Some people like to say that drawing a Joker is sign of a bad omen--sometimes of death." He seemed to educate her, before clearing his throat. "Its rather strange how right those people were." He snapped his fingers as the blue back of the Joker card--now facing Mikan began to flicker brightly.
"As compensation for your loss; I think I'll take your life, Miss. No hard feelings, I'm just bored."
