Shotaro tends to be quite stubborn and headstrong, diving into situations headfirst without thinking alot of the time. He is very loyal and sticks by his principles even at the cost of his own life. However, since the loss of his partner, Shotaro has been a little broken, sometimes only a shell of his former self.
History:
Shotaro Hidari is a self-dubbed "hardboiled detective", though considered "halfboiled" by others to his dislike, who dresses in the style from the 1940s and wears a black fedora/trilby made by the Windscale design house. He has a sharp intuition and may even figure out the culprit behind a crime long before their identify has been confirmed. Vowing to ensure that no one ever feels sad, Shotaro took on the job as the protege of Futo's private investigator Narumi Sokichi.
During a midnight investigation at the Sonozaki Laboratories, Sokichi was shot in the back duing the events of that night and with his last breath gave both his hat and his Lost Driver to his protege before collapsing. Seeing the item they had came for, the double driver, was now in pieces as a result of the battle, Shotaro took the 6 gaia memories that were with it and used the Joker memory to transform himself into Kamen Rider Joker to finish the fight and get his mentors body to safety.
At Sokichi's funeral, Shotaro swore vengence and to protect the city of Fuuto against any and all threats, especially those caused by the terrors sold by the Gaia Memory dealers.
Shotaro eventually upgraded his gaia memories to their T2 counterparts

A slight breeze was blowing through the city of Fuuto. Pin wheels children had stuck in the soil in the park were spinning in the wind, and the mighty Fuuto Tower was rotating gallantly as its protector gazed upon its majesty.
Hidari Shotaro, self-proclaimed hard-boiled detective grasped the brim of his fedora to stop it blowing away as he looked up at Fuuto towers blades. It was more than just a beautiful sight to behold. Fuuto tower was a wind power turbine. One of many dotted around the windy city, but by far the biggest and most majestic looking of the lot. It was as if the city itself was giving life to its people. Shotaro loved that. the unification of a city and its inhabitants, working as one to make their way through life, and he would die to defend that beauty.
Shotaro smirked and stood up from the railings. He was getting thirsty, so he made his way over to a strange looking vending machine and took out a few coins.
"Hmmm.....what to choose?" He mused before inserting his coin and hitting one of the buttons. A can of orangeade fell to the bottom and Shotaro took it out. It didnt take him long to open it and chug down half the can in one gulp.
HE heard a rather strange bleeping noise coming from one of the other vending machines. It sounded like the user had just won something from the tone. He also could have sworn he heard it say something along the lines of "Tako-Can" but brushed it off as he watched an odd looking man in a poncho holding a can of some sort in one hand and some underwear in the other leaving the machine and run off towards the concert hall.
"What a strange guy." Shotaro smirked before ignoring it and walking off in the opposite direction.
He made his way to the centre of the park only to be met by screams of terror and people fleeing. A new dopant had shown its face and was terrorising the city.
"Not in my town!" Shotaro said to himself before pulling out his mentors Lost Driver and wrapping it around his waist and pulling out the T2 Joker memory.
"JOKAAAAAHHH!!!"the memory shrieked as Shotaro pressed the button.
"HENSHIN!" Shotaro threw the memory into the driver and flicked it open. His armour materialised around him and he charged at the Dopant.
Nobody messed with his city.........nobody!!!!

Shotaro also becomes easily crazed in this form and can quite easily loose control and terrorise those around him. This form is his most powerful form, but is an absolute LAST RESORT!!!
