Ghosts. Spirits. Demons. They weren't real. Any rational thinking person thought that. It's a good thing that those rational people were wrong on this count. They were real, and active. It was Otoha's duty to watch over the good kind of spirit and defeat the bad kind. The ones that attacked humans.
And don't get it wrong. There were spirits attacking humans, more often than ever, and even Otoha was having trouble keeping up with them. More and more, everyday.

Ghost stories were one thing, but actual sightings and presumed attacks by them were another. Certainly, it was possible that these stories were fake, or seeing things, but Shotaro assumed otherwise. He was assuming these people were completely rational and knew what they were seeing.
Or thought they knew what they were seeing.
So now it was his job to do what he could, although he wasn't sure what.

Karas jumped from his perch and landed with incredible grace in the middle of a deserted road, clear for all to see, or not see.

Shotaro was sitting on his bike on the side of the road, having let loose his Memory Gadgets in various directions. He wasn't sure what good that would do, looking for ghosts, but whatever.

As Otoha was joined by Yurine and walked right behind the unassuming detective, a few electric lights flickered momentarily.

Shotaro looked around, "What? Could this be...the sign of a ghost?" he muttered, swinging himself off of his bike and flipping his hat on.

Otoha stopped momentarily, and smirked upon realising the detective still couldn't see him.

Shotaro walked around the area, looking at the lights and examining whatever he could closely.

It would be cruel to tease the mortal, but that didn't stop Otoha momentarily flickering into view, without realising. He must have lost focus.

"Ah! There!" he called, wishing he had the Bat so he could take a picture.

"Damn." Otoha cursed under his breath. Might as well drop the whole illusion.
"Alright, you found me."

"I guess I am a good detective," he said, "Alright ghost...," he had no idea what to do next, so he wasn't sure what to say.

"Spirit." Otoha raised a hand. "I don't like the word "ghost"."

"Is there a difference?" he questioned.

"No, but ghost sounds more informal."
