They had given it some time, but Kaito had not returned from his mission. They had no way to reach him, so they had to go themselves to America and deal with the mission.
His mission had been to track down the man known as 'Skull' and eliminate him, and stop the Black Satan distribution. Interpol was getting involved with this drug, since it was becoming such a problem.
But after reporting that he had made contact, nothing else had happened.
