Overview:
Retsu is a man of principles, someone who is going to follow his orders to the letter, if possible. He’s an honorable and respectful man, unsure if he can live up to the legacy of Rai, and wonders why he was even put in this position. He’s an intelligent man, but he’s very human. He has his obvious flaws, but tries to fight them, pushing off women and drink, for instance. He won’t go outside of the law to get things done, and has no respect for even the slightest move outside of the law, or orders, unless there’s a moral reason to do so. If he’s ordered to not do something, which would be the right thing to do, he’d be willing to forgo those orders for the sake of doing the job he’s signed on for.

History

Retsu was born on the planet Verus. Due to a drug outbreak that occurred when he was around five years old, his mother died of an overdose, and his father had a hard time raising him alone. He grew up with dreams of a better life, with dreams of more freedom than this life provided; his father always keeping a watchful eye on him.

He would get this chance when he turned eighteen. He and his father weren’t doing well, living week to week for the most part on paychecks. When Retsu met a Sheriff who came to Verus, he asked to return with him to the Sheriff homeworld. He wanted to become a part of their group.

He told his father, and with his acceptance, left. He knew his father was better off alone, only needing money for himself. He was too broken to work at a higher wage, so the two had been doing very poorly for years.

Once Retsu began his training and law courses, he began to learn quickly and take everything to heart. He did well, and started on the job as a Sheriff, but without armor. Not all Sheriffs were armored, after all. He was a peace keeper in his role. He sent money continually back to his father, until the man worked himself to death. That, and his mental state also brought him to his death.

Retsu continued to work for years, finding a partner in Hanto Kira. The two formed a good team, and Retsu had a poorer relationship with the higher ups in the Bureau, but Hanto was able to help him, as he ‘played their game’.

Recently Retsu became shocked to know he was being sent to Earth with Hanto, and being given the Gavan armor, to now serve as Space Sheriff Gavan. He doesn’t know what to make of this, but is going along with it all the same.

Overview:
Hanto is a confident, smooth and suave individual. He’s confident in his job, in his duties. He’s cold and somewhat cocky, but not too cocky nor overconfident. He knows how to manipulate people and play games to get the desired end result. He’s a social enough man and can usually get what he wants. He’s a man of secrets, and likes to keep it that way.

History

Hanto’s past remains wrapped in mystery. There’s his actual past, and the past that the Bureau knows about; the past he fabricated.

Hanto’s father was a Knight of the Galactic Order, using the armor called Galm. He was killed in the line of duty, during the feuding with the Bureau and Space Sheriffs. He left his armor to his son, in the hopes that he would one day take up the mantle and help restore the Knights.

Hanto was raised by an uncle from that point on, and abandoned him at age twelve to travel, becoming a stowaway on a galactic vessel. The vessel was attacked by space pirates, and most of the crew robbed, while those who wouldn’t comply were taken as prisoners. Hanto was taken as a prisoner.

Hanto was young, so he was influenced easily enough, but they underestimated his strong will. They taught him their ways, and he grew up as a pirate with them, while using his training from his father as well, always remembering who he was as a Knight.

When he was seventeen he went to the Bureau and enlisted in their academy. He became a skilled Sheriff, with them unaware of his past, only knowing that his mother died when he was young because of a space pirate attack, and his father had abandoned him.

He did very well, becoming the best of his class early on, but he quickly realized he didn’t want to overly stand out. He started lowering himself, and as such when he graduated as a Sheriff had no armor, but was partnered with another man, Retsu.

The two worked together on a number of cases over the years, and became brothers in arms and friends. Hanto continued his role as a space pirate, which came to the attention of a few higher ups in the Bureau, who were also corrupt. They used him, and he used them. He played their games of politics, and encouraged Retsu to do the same, wanting the man who became his friend to be a part of this, and to be with him in this, which he would tell him about when the time was right.

The two were recently sent to Earth, where Retsu was to become Gavan, and Hanto was left wondering what his next move would be.

“I don’t want to get anywhere. I just want to help the people,” Retsu told him.

Hanto stood up, “It’s all just a game, Retsu. You don’t know how to play it. Learn.”
