Overview:
Byakuya is a man who prefers to remain cold and away from others. He is a good man, but prefers his space and his solitude. Peace is what he wants, more than anything. Peace for himself, the quiet. And peace for the worlds he serves. He likes the flowers of the planets he visits, along with tea and similar drinks from the planets, finding those to be great sources of peace.
It’s hard to get him angry, or to make foolish moves, or to be loud. He’s reserved, and controls himself well. He leads with a mix of his head and his heart, but neither makes him make foolish moves. The other balances it.
He doesn’t mind people, but doesn’t go out of his way to meet them or talk to them. He’ll be social when he has to, or when the need arises, but it’s not who he is by nature. He has issues with being judged by appearances alone, and if he wants to know someone, or if someone tries to get close to him, he wants it to be for personality, rather than appearance or anything like that. He has no need for relationships in his job, no matter where he is, and doesn’t care about them. He is bisexual, and recognizes that fact.
He’s a fast thinker, intelligent, and cunning. All of these helped him become a young Space Sheriff, and to be recognized. His skill is high, and it helps him in his job. As an ability of his people, he has limited telekinesis, but he doesn’t know how much use is too much until it’s too late, so that’s a downside to his abilities.
He has a good heart, and a strong sense of justice. He sees himself as someone sent not only to protect, but to persecute those who make sins which cannot be forgiven. That’s not to say he’s ruthless, but he will do what he must when the situation arises and calls for it.
He sometimes wonders if being assigned to Earth is the result of someone not liking him, or if Earth really does need more help. He has been involved in some diplomatic problems within the Bureau, as the Bureau is a game of politics through and through, a game he refuses to play. But even if that’s the case, he’ll carry out his mission as assigned, to prove himself as a good Space Sheriff.
Hero Stuff
Name: Space Sheriff Shaider
Type Of Hero: Metal Hero, Space Sheriff
Henshin Device: NA
Henshin Sequence: He throws his hand up and calls out “Kikousou!” (Armor call). A beam of light comes down on him, teleporting his armor onto his body in a fraction of a second.
Forms:
- Form Name: Space Sheriff Shaider
Image/ Description: 1, right
Motif: Metal
Color Scheme: Blue, silver, green, yellow, black
Transformation: See above
Fighting Style: It varies. Like Rai, he knows he can’t stick to one. He does like to use his sword in conjunction with firing blasts from his firearm, however, obscuring the firearm so the shots aren’t expected. He also highly values speed and agility. He also likes to use his teleport step to confuse and get behind opponents, along with his beam sword/blaster combo, which allows him to shoot and scrape off just the top of the blade, sending energy fragments flying, which he can control if he has his Scope on. Hand movements allow him to also control it, as well as with his mental processes via his helmet.
Weapons:- Laser Blade: his steel sword which becomes energized upon activation
- Beam Gun: an energy pistol firearm
- Shaider Scope: for tracking down invisible foes when combined with his Gun
Abilities: His helmet boosts his mental processes, giving a slight boost to his existing telekinesis, allowing him to control the fragments of his sword if he shoots them off, using them as small, individual energy fragments or shards. His helmet also gives him a vision boost, letting him see just past one mile unobstructed if he focuses. His hearing can also be boosted to hear within about one and a half to two thousand yards, up higher yet, if he focuses, though that would possibly drive him insane. His visor also gives him sonar reading when he uses that, and lets him see in heat vision and night vision.
His arms have built in weaponry and parts. Either hand can allow him to fire out sonar, which his suit will pick up and allow him to read via his visor, as already mentioned. He can also project a barrier by lifting both hands up in front of himself and focusing the energy of his suit out. His suit can recharge in the field by taking in solar energy. His suit is also capable of functioning off of Cosmic Energy, if he’s in space.
His arms and legs each have built in weaponry. He is able to unleash a powerful punch or kick equal to a finishing attack in power if he focuses it through his suit, letting him release thousands of pounds of pressure and strength, whereas he can go up to five times his usual power with normal strikes. He can channel around two thousand pounds of pressure when focusing and using a full strength attack.
His speed hasn’t dropped, even with the armor weighing around 750 pounds. It’s designed as such to allow him to move faster, with slight jet units in his legs and feet. This also helps him jump higher than normal, and completely offsets the weight issue in his movement.
Overall, his combat ability is not hindered in any way. The suit is designed to let him fight as if he weren’t wearing a suit, letting him just fight. He has higher offensive and defensive stats due to the armor and the weight it bears, but it doesn’t affect him, due to design.
His suit, finally, has a teleport unit built into it. It doesn’t give him a lot of uses, but he can divert energy to it for more. It allows him to vanish in a burst of blue light and appear within about ten feet in any direction, limiting its usefulness if an enemy has figured out its range, but giving him an edge over an opponent and letting him take a swift final blow, typically from behind.
Finisher(s):- Shaider Crimson Flash: his sword finisher. His energized sword glows brighter and stronger, and he cuts an opponent in half.
- Blue Flash Spark: he fires a charged blue blast from his firearm to blow through the opponent.
- Blue Storm: he creates his shard fragments and directs them into a vortex or wall to slice the opponent down.
- He also has his punch/kick finisher.
- Laser Blade: his steel sword which becomes energized upon activation
Mecha Name: Electronic Starbeast Drapion

History
Unlike most Space Sheriffs, Byakuya was not born on their planet. He was born on a nearby world, and thus had access to their world at the age of sixteen. He went off with the blessing of his parents and finished his basic schooling with those who would want to join the Bureau, doing very well for himself. He was determined.
Upon turning eighteen, he went through three years of academy work to learn to be a proper Space Sheriff. He watched his peers as they dropped out, as they advanced with him, as some died due to the harshness of the training at points. But still he persisted. His dreams were to be a Space Sheriff and to protect people, after his past. He had been in school, and a terrorist group had attacked when he was young. He was one of the only survivors, and saw a Sheriff deal with the man quickly.
After turning twenty one and graduating from the academy courses, he sought work with the Sheriffs, and applied, scoring highly in the tests and simulations, getting a job on his first attempt, beating out many of his peers. Some of them got jobs and were sent around to worlds he had never heard of, or those he had. To the entire universe.
Byakuya met a Sheriff named Shaider, and was given a copy of his suit, being ‘Shaider S’ as his trainee of sorts. He met Commander Nultz, and they set out. Byakuya’s first assignment was on a planet in the middle of political unrest, where something bad could happen at any time. It was only two days in when he first summoned his armor and had to deal with people, arresting two and killing five in an ensuing battle; an attempted terrorist attack.
Due to his presence, the attacks got worse. He did the best he could, receiving support from the Bureau in two incidents, otherwise working on his own. Finally the political unrest did end, and he was going to be leaving the planet. He had become a well-respected and beloved figure on the planet by its populace for his help in the capital. He was spending one more night on the planet, due to the insistence of its new leader, and was to stay in the presidential manor.
That night there was one more attack. A firebombing. The manor went up and killed the leader of the planet, with most of his staff. Byakuya was almost lost in the flames as well, but escaped, unharmed, but barely. He called to Nultz for support, and quickly found the person whom had done it. He fired on the man, but the man fled, leading to a chase through the city, which was now in alarm.
He lost the man quickly enough, but continued to search. It took only a few more minutes for the man to track Byakuya, and he emerged from an alley at his left, firing a flare gun at him. Byakuya’s left side was severely burned when he was lit on fire, but he managed to shoot the man once to stop him while he dealt with the flames. Nultz himself had come to the planet surface and took the prisoner and Byakuya back into space, arresting the man, and getting Byakuya help.
It was decided that for the next few months Byakuya would be out of service. For the next four months he went back to his home planet to see his parents, and celebrated his twenty third birthday with them. Finally, when he was healed well enough to go back into service, he made Nultz let him go back. He was sent out again, but to basic patrol for a few months, nothing too hard.
But it didn’t last long. About two months later he was dropped into the midst of a coup, helping the rebels in their guerilla war. The Bureau’s official word on the matter was that the rebels had the best vision for the planet, as the current regime was preparing to launch an attack on the Bureau and its allied planets, so they sent in men to support in the coup. As many Sheriffs as they could spare.
The fighting lasted about another month before the Sheriffs overpowered the regime, thanks in part to their Starbeasts. Once this was completed, Nultz received orders to have Byakuya remain on the planet as its Sheriff. So he remained there for a few years, mostly acting on patrol and minor crimes. Every so often there would be another coup attempt by a few members of the old regime, but it never went far. Byakuya saw the most action during these events.
Finally, as of last month, Byakuya was told his time was done on the planet. Things were fully secure. But they had no place to send him yet. That changed two weeks later, when he was told he was going to Earth, because of an incident involving Rai Kamioka/Space Sheriff Gavan. Unsure of what was going on, Byakuya accepted and is on his way to Earth.
It was then that he heard of his mentor’s death. He dropped the ‘S’ from his title and considers himself Shaider now, without the previous Shaider alive, unaware of what happened on Earth. He intends on reclaiming his mentor’s suit on Earth, no matter what. He had little trouble with that, and is now Shaider.

He looked around. Where was the man? He had both hands on his handgun, feeling the tang between the webbing between his thumb and pointer finger, finger resting just off the trigger. He had it up, looking around. Eyes, sight, target. But there was no target.
The gun was only up at this point because it made sense to have it up. He could be anywhere. Byakuya had to be ready.
He lowered his weapon, looking around as he holstered it. No. He wasn’t here. He ran off ahead, hand on his grip, just in case. He didn’t want to run with the gun in hand, not with the people already worried, not with this situation unfolding as it was.
But as he continued to run, to search, he reconsidered and drew his weapon. No, it was better to be drawn.
Finally he stopped, about to holster his weapon. The man was gone. The bastard who did this was gone, and it would be next to impossible to find him. It was hard to tell who he was in the dark, after all. Byakuya shook his head. No, this wasn’t good at all.
The next thing he knew was he was hearing a click, and then felt the heat of the flames licking at his flesh. He was burning, on fire. He cried out, stumbling around, in pure shock of this. Flames, burning through his clothing, getting at his flesh. It hurt. It burned. It was agony.
As he stumbled, he could just barely make out the figure in the alley, holding the flare gun. He lifted his gun and shot, twisting his wrist to absorb the recoil due to firing with a single hand. His training still came back to him, even in this panic.
The man went down, and Byakuya dropped the gun, shouting and slamming himself into a building, trying to use the brick to take out the fire. He dropped to the ground, rolling, at last managing to do something about it.
But it still hurt. Putting it out didn’t seem to fix too much of the problem. He looked back at the alley, if only because he happened to have turned that way while rolling. It was Nultz, gun drawn, moving into the alley and pulling the downed man out, putting on handcuffs and hurrying to Byakuya’s side, speaking, but he wasn’t sure what he was saying. It was a blur.
The next thing he knew, the pain was gone, and he was aboard the ship. But it still felt like a blur, a haze.
