Brutus stumbled backward, tripping over some debris and falling, and laid still.

He leapt for Brutus, coming down with his hammer on the jewel.

Right before the hammer hit, Brutus's body crumbled into ash, the jewel remaining intact.
Michelle had somehow managed to get herself into a kneeling position, but the material had fused her legs into a kneeling position.

The jewel sustained no damage whatsoever, and began to glow softly.
Michelle sat in her kneeling position, moving her body around in an attempt to find some sort of weakness, but to no avail.

The jewel continued to take no damage, until it flashed brightly and vanished.
Michelle gave up and sat up, in an attempt to keep anything from fusing to anything else.

He wasn't sure what to think of it, so he ran to Michelle, tearing his helmet off and pulling his blade, about to get ready to cut her free, "I'm here," he told her, "I think I killed it."

Michelle mumbled at him through her gag, looking blindly in his direction. She wiggled a bit, knowing it wouldn't help to free her. It gave her something to do, though.
