Ryan had attempted to avoid Michelle as much as possible after what had happened. It wasn't her fault, but he just couldn't face her. He didn't know what to do about it, other than keep avoiding his girlfriend, as much as it put him out of the way of his usual routine and places.
It hurt him, but he just couldn't go and even talk to her yet.

Michelle hadn't seen Ryan since the incident. She still felt absolutely horrible about herself, still felt... unclean. These damn bracelets reminded her of it every time she had to do something and look at it. She wanted to talk to Ryan, to see if she might be able to salvage their relationship. She didn't want to go with the letter tactic again, but it seemed Ryan didn't want to face her, so she had no other choice. She slipped a letter, apologizing for what she did and expressing her hope of being able to salvage their relationship. Once she did that, she walked to her next class, in an effort to be out of sight distance by the time Ryan found the letter.

When he ended up at his locker, he saw the letter sitting there and looked at it, but didn't open it. He didn't know what to do with it, so he just set it back on top of his things and went on.

Michelle sat through her last period of the day, hoping to God Ryan had read her letter and wanted to at least talk. She was barely paying attention, she was hoping so much.

After his last class he returned his things to his locker and took the note, but didn't read it. He pocketed it and headed home.

He finally had to stop walking and just read, since walking and reading wasn't working well for him, almost running into a pole.

"Hi." Michelle said, stepping out from behind the tree. She had her hands clasped behind her back, which is why she didn't notice the creeping material.
The shadow began to move to a point behind Ryan.
