The year is 2105, the world is in a state of peace. Or that is how the government makes it appear. Aliens invade the Earth on a fairly regular basis. Some of them are seeking shelter, a new home. Some are seeking to cause death and destruction, or to invade.

The planet has abolished military forces, as a series of nuclear deterrents keeps the countries in check. The Earth has the United Federation as its standing governmental system. A parliamentary system rules, causing judiciary and executive branches to be intertwined, and for a single leader to rule for a period of eight years, with figureheads in place to monitor the matters of the individual states (nations, in this case). The people are oft at a loss their leader, as their leader always remains unknown. The greatest contact they have is with the figurehead, as parliament decides their world leader.

In order to keep the nations of the world in check, nuclear deterrence is used. Nukes in one country are aimed at others, and so on. If one country would attack, another country would attack back and restore the balance. At least on paper. Of course there would be ramifications, but the people don't need to know that, nor think about it. There is no military anymore; there is no need for one. Police exist for internal affairs within the cities of the world, but militaries are viewed as useless, in the age of the governmental weapons (nukes, missiles), as the government keeps absolute control.

In order to combat the alien threat, the government has set up D.E.U.S., a covert operations unit, almost black ops. D.E.U.S.'s definition isn't known, but people can make guesses within the organization, taking the approach of "Decimating Extraterrestrials with Unified Strategy", or "Deterring Extraterrestrials with Unified Strategy", depending on how one views their job. D.E.U.S. agents give up their lives and their own names in the pursuit of peace for the world, training as fighters and killers, in attempts to slay aliens who threaten the Earth. They fight from the shadows, always keeping the populace peaceful, keeping their actions hidden.

The alien threats continue to grow, however. Of late more aliens have been appearing on Earth, and stronger aliens as well. D.E.U.S. and the government have been keeping this under wraps, but the organization is starting to spread itself thin, causing the potential for a downfall.
