Overview:
Rai is a Space Sheriff, meaning he’s someone who wants to protect people. He’s a man of the law, someone who wants to enforce it as best as he can, to keep order and get rid of chaos and crime. Crime leads to nothing good, so the more he can do, the better.
As a man he’s in this for the people. He didn’t take the job as a Sheriff for himself, to get anywhere in the world. No; he chose it for the people. The people need protection; they need someone who will be there. Over the years that’s what Rai has been. He’s been a man who has been there for the others. He’s dedicated forty years to training and working, and hasn’t looked back. He’s lost his parents, he lost his wife, and he has his daughter off on another planet, but he doesn’t regret most of his life.
He’s a smart man in the terms of law. He knows the laws that have been given out by the Bureau throughout space, and is in great physical condition, despite his age. He’s a skilled fighter in hand to hand combat, and with weaponry, though his ways are becoming outdated in terms of weaponry, and his skills aren’t as good as they once were, due to his age.
Personally or professionally, he’ll do what he has to for others. He’s open to helping other people, as he believes it’s his job, even if it’s not something criminal related. He does this as a service for the community, and believes that this is what the point of his life is now. He’s kind and a good man, willing to do even minor things or things that he doesn’t have to if asked, as long as he doesn’t have a job to do at the time.
He feels a bit unsure of what to really do with himself. He likes to take in the culture and sights of the planets he visits, but doesn’t know how much to do otherwise. He needs to always be ready to do his job, but he wants something else to do. As of late he’s started to travel around and just take in sights, nothing more. He used to have other hobbies on other planets, but that’s long past him.
He’s stuck in his old ways. Partially because of the loss of his wife, Aya, he’s stuck. He refuses to use new suits or weaponry, because his old ones were always reliable for him, and that’s what he had when he was with Aya. He can’t part with it, even if he wants to. It’s almost gotten him killed, but he refuses to change. Even with an outdated suit and weaponry, he is still very dangerous as an opponent, meaning that if he had new technology and a suit that worked a lot better, he might be the strongest fighter on his planets that he patrols, assuming his age didn’t get in his way.
Rai is always reliable, always there for people, and an all-around good guy. He’ll help others; he’ll follow and enforce the law. He has broken it in brutal killings of his foes before, but his superiors looked the other way. His passion drove him to do it, but the alien would have had the death penalty as it was. Still, he feels terrible about having to do that, and never wants to cross such a line again.
Hero Stuff
Name: Space Sheriff Gavan
Type Of Hero: Metal Hero, Space Sheriff
Henshin Device: NA
Henshin Sequence: He throws his hand up and calls out “Kikousou!” (Armor call). A beam of light comes down on him, teleporting his armor onto his body in a fraction of a second.
Forms:
- Form Name: Space Sheriff Gavan
Image/ Description: Here. Dull and all. It’s covered in scratches and scars, all from battle and from age and continual use. It once shone and looked nicer, more metallic, stronger, more battle-worthy. It’s not neglect, it’s being outdated and being put into combat often enough that has caused the suit to change like this. Rai refuses to have it touched or maintained by anyone else, and he also refuses upgrades, being too set in his ways, even with an obsolete suit that might get him killed someday.
Motif: Metal
Color Scheme: Silver/gray, red, black, yellow
Transformation: See above
Fighting Style: He fights based on the situation at hand. He always keeps his briefcase protected to ensure that he has weapons at his disposal, and adapts to the situation. He’s gone through many fighting styles in the past, and has come to learn he can’t fight with one style. He has to be well rounded and fight based on the enemy.
Weapons:- Laser Z Beam. He adds something like this (silver, smaller) to his grip and can launch the energy blasts from his knuckle in beam form, individual triangular shaped beam attacks. It is capable of eliminating a weakened enemy, or doing more than moderate damage in bulk on its own.
- By adding on a thicker cybernetic gauntlet over his right hand and part of his forearm, he can use Silver Beam, an energy based punch attack, which can also launch forward if he punches and the enemy I farther back.
- Laser Blade, Gavan’s sword weapon. It is a steel sword with a double edge and point that never dull. By triggering a button on the hilt, he can energize it into a laser sword, making it much stronger, vaporizing solids on contact with the energy, and being a powerful cutting edge.
- He can add a small device onto his wrist for a powered punch, an energy surge going through his armor to aid in his punching ability. Good for about two or three uses at once. He also has one for his leg for kicks. A finisher to weakened enemies.
- Laser Scope, an eyepiece that he adds onto his helmet over one his eye. It allows him to see invisible targets by reading heat signatures on default, along with any other signature he must by switching through, though it runs on a power source externally, meaning he can’t recharge via his suit.
- Electro Sonar, a band he puts on his wrist, allowing him to put his arm out and launch sonar from it. It comes back into the band and allows him to read it via his visor.
- Barrier generator (ignore the text). He lifts it up and activates it with the push of a button, creating a barrier out of magnetic energy to stop projectiles and any incoming attacks. It runs on its own battery unit, and can’t be recharged in the field.
Abilities: The suit of armor has by now become outdated, but it still boasts decent stats. The helmet boosts his vision to around 1-mile of vision, unobstructed, when focused properly. His hearing can be boosted to hear within about one and a half thousand yards, but with focus up to about a mile, though that would overload him too easily.
His physical prowess is boosted greatly. His striking power is now around 1000 pounds of pressure when using a full strength attack. Otherwise his strikes are about quadrupled from his own natural abilities. His speed has gone down slightly, due to the design and weight of the suit.
The suit itself weighs approximately 500 pounds, but operates more easily from within than as a number, or a weight. His jumping ability is increased due to slight thrusters built into the feet and legs, but not a great amount. It’s pretty much needed, due to the weight of the suit.
His overall combat ability is not hindered in any way. Over the years he’s adapted to the suit, though anyone just using it for the first time would be in trouble. The newer models would eliminate this problem, but as it stands, the outdated Gavan armor is almost a deathtrap to those who don’t know what they’re doing.
Due to the nature of the suit, at times it has been known to overheat, causing stress and pain on Rai. This isn’t good in battle situations, but he puts up with it.
Finisher(s):- Gavan Dynamic; he uses his energized sword to cut an opponent in half.
- Use of his Laser Z Beam can finish off a weakened foe.
- An enhanced punch or kick can eliminate a weakened enemy.
Coming: - Laser Z Beam. He adds something like this (silver, smaller) to his grip and can launch the energy blasts from his knuckle in beam form, individual triangular shaped beam attacks. It is capable of eliminating a weakened enemy, or doing more than moderate damage in bulk on its own.

History
Rai was born on another planet, one similar to Earth. His father was a government official and worked for the Space Defense Bureau. His mother worked for the organization as well, and that’s how his parents ended up meeting. As such, when Rai was born, he spent a lot of time in the facilities, and that continued as he grew up. He would spend a lot of time there, interested in what his parents did, even if it wasn’t the job of protecting people of other planets, like the Space Sheriffs did.
As Rai grew up, he begged his father to let him take part in the Space Sheriff program. A new initiative was beginning within the Bureau, a division for child soldiers. Rai wanted to join, as the Space Sheriffs were always people he looked up to. His parents forbade it, so Rai snuck into it without his parents allowing him. By the time they found out, it was too late. The trainer forbade any of the children from being taken out of the program.
Rai spent the next seven years, from the time he was ten, to the time he was seventeen, training under hard, rigorous, and life threatening scenarios and situations. At the age of ten he began to train physically, eleven started mental training, while twelve to seventeen was about refining the training and learning weapons, laws, and having mock combat amongst other students.
When Rai turned seventeen, and the program was over, he went to see his parents for the first time in seven years. His mother had cheated on his father, and they had since divorced. His mother was now wed to a Space Sheriff, and his father hadn’t even been home in weeks, living out of the office and working himself as hard as he could, trying to bury his depression.
When Rai turned eighteen, he was formally able to become a member of the Space Sheriffs, if he could pass the examinations. He cut his ties with his parents, due to the way they were acting, wondering sometimes if it was his own fault for joining the program against their wishes. He knew he was doing more harm, but he had gone seven years without them, he had no real desire to see them again. He had no real parents anymore, just his brothers and sisters from the program.
He spent the next year getting his affairs in order and adapting to life on his planet again. The day he turned eighteen he went to the Bureau and partook in the testing process. During his first attempt, he failed the written test, but passed every other test. He tried again one year later, when permitted. This time he passed the written test with a near perfect score and passed the physical exams, along with the simulated emergencies that were thrown at him.
He was nearing twenty, and finally hired to be a Space Sheriff. He was given a post in the command under Commander Ulgues. He was given a silver suit of armor codenamed “Gavan”. He had a small support team and worked on backwater planets, most often not even needing to transform, only needing his title and position to take care of affairs. He had a firearm as well, which he never fired.
He spent two years doing this, and then complained to Ulgues about it. He had never used his armor, never had any real problems that he had joined the Space Sheriffs to deal with. He wanted to do something, he felt he deserved it. He was so highly ranked in the testing process, after all. Ulgues told him that he was being insubordinate, and put him on probation for two years.
When he was off of probation, he heard that four other Sheriffs whom he had trained with had died in the line of duty. Ulgues pulled Rai back into duty and they were dispatched to another solar system, where the other Sheriffs had died in the line of duty.
Rai finally was able to become Gavan as he patrolled these planets, fighting against the forces that killed those other Sheriffs. A galactic crime ring that was extorting and terrorizing other planets was behind the killings of the Sheriffs. Rai started to patrol the planets and soon came across the crime ring. He fought hard, using his levels of training to stay alive, albeit with hardships.
He fought for four years against the crime syndicate across various planets. He came close to death multiple times, and worked with other Sheriffs and personnel from the Bureau to eliminate the threats. He was twenty seven at this point, still in the prime of his life, but wearing down, fearing thirty.
It took him until he was thirty two to eradicate the syndicate and imprison or kill its leaders. Some remnants escaped, but they weren’t going to be a threat to many people. By this point Rai’s body had taken many beatings and great damage, along with his suit of armor. But the Gavan armor had seen him through many hardships, so he kept it as it was, refusing repair or upgrade.
He spent the next few months taking some time off of the fight to rest his body. He met a woman on his home planet named Aya, and the two wed six months later. But by that point Rai was being sent back into active duty. He hated having to leave his new wife, but promised to be safe and come back soon. However, to surprise him, she moved from the planet to one closer to his station.
Now stationed on a different planet with a bit of a crime issue, he had an easy time readjusting. Nothing too strenuous, just basic stuff for now. He had to use his armor a few times, but nothing too hard. He had to arrest and kill a few enemies, but it was ordinary work compared to his fight years ago against the syndicate.
However, the remnants of the syndicate came to the planet in search of Gavan. They began a burning land/terror strategy, doing a lot of damage. Due to their small numbers, Rai couldn’t pin them down. They had no base, they always moved, and could very easily. It was during this time that he learned his wife was on the planet, and more, she was pregnant and going to give birth soon.
He tried to get Aya to leave, but she refused to leave her husband. Eventually he convinced her to do so, for the sake of their unborn child. She finally relented and left the planet. However, the enemy remnants had decided to place a bomb on a transporter. As the ship was leaving the planet, it detonated, killing everyone on board, supposedly. In his rage, Rai brutally slew two of the enemy when he encountered them, rather than doing anything lawful. Ulgues looked the other way.
However, it turned out that a few had survived the explosion. Aya was among them. They were in critical condition, but had survived. Fortunately the explosion had occurred before they actually took off. He found his wife in the burn ward when he learned about survivors. He barely recognized her, due to how disfiguring the explosion was. Their child was still safe.
She basically was forced to have a cesarean in order to save their child, and then died shortly after their daughter was born. He requested that Ulgues take his daughter and take her somewhere safe while he finished his job. His commander agreed and did so, taking her to the safety of his home-world while Rai dealt with the remnants over the next year and a half.
When it was finally over, he wanted to go and see his daughter, but he was unable to. His job wasn’t permitting him to. He wanted to leave the Sheriffs, but was forced to keep working. He ended up near Earth, only able to see his daughter via video feeds, talking to her, though she was too young to be able to understand or talk back to him. He named her Jya. He was thirty four upon her birth.
He’s only been back home three times over the years. He’s been dealing with minor to major crimes and enemies and aliens during this time. His armor keeps becoming more and more damaged, outdated, but he pushes on. He ignores it and keeps using it, seeing other Sheriffs and members of the Bureau who utilize newer armor, newer weapons, but he’s stuck in his ways.
As Jya’s grown up, he’s wanted to see her, but his job keeps pushing him farther and farther away, to other planets and systems. He’s moved around, back and forth for so long, and now is being positioned at Earth. He hasn’t had to do much yet, and his work has been relatively in the dark compared to the other heroes that the planet has already. Rai started to wonder how long he’d be positioned at Earth.
He’s been there the last four years. He’s remaining in contact with Ulgues and his support team, but is having trouble keeping in touch with Jya and anyone else from home. Earth has issues in maintaining a proper communication to his planet. He’s felt even farther away, especially as his daughter has grown up to sixteen.
Being fifty years old, Rai’s had time to reflect back on his life as he’s been on Earth as an enforcer and protector. He remembers when he was ten, when his training began forty years ago. He realizes he’s the oldest Sheriff as well, and wonders how much time he has left. As if knowing these thoughts, the Bureau sent *, to be an apprentice and take up the Gavan armor in time. They had abandoned the initiative that Rai had been in, deciding to send rookies out to be trained by veterans and take up their mantles.
Rai has been wondering even more now with the arrival of his apprentice. How much time does he have left as a Sheriff? How long until he’s going to be replaced completely, and his job over? As much as he wants to see Jya, he can’t just quit. He didn’t want her to grow up without real parents, but it happened.
So now, Rai is working on training *, doing what could possibly be his final order as a Space Sheriff.

“Kikousou!” he called out, throwing his hand up to the heavens. Up above, his ship hang in orbit, teleporting his armor to him in a flash of light around Rai’s body. He lowered his arm a second after throwing it up, standing in his dulled gray armor.
Rai walked towards the creature that stood in front of him. This was something he hadn’t seen before; it looked like a leather bound animal. That was certainly strange.
It rushed him, so he dodged back and lashed out a side kick, tossing it aside. He rolled, grabbing the briefcase that was teleported down with his armor, affixing his knuckle and firing out the triangular blasts at the Undead, stunning it with his continual fire.
He affixed the weapon to his arm and ran forward, throwing a punch. It was blasted back and hit the ground, not moving. Its belt opened, but that was it. He didn’t understand. But it got up and fled before he could do anything else.
It looked wounded, scared. He chose not to pursue, not until he knew more. That punch should have killed it.
