This was inspired heavily by Megaman Battle Network. The idea is a team of about 5-6 people, possibly more (probably not) that fight net crime.... on the net. Essentially, these people are given special devices called Personal Terminal's, or PET's, which are small devices about the size of a Gameboy Advance (one of the old-school kind) that have about three times as much computing power as the modern smartphone. They can do everything a modern smartphone can, and they also contain highly advanced programs known as Network Navigators, or NetNavi's. A Navi is essentially an artificial intelligence, an all-purpose computer antivirus program, and a partner all rolled into one. Bastion uses the Navi's to travel through the Internet and fight net crime. They're sort of like Rescue Force, in that they deal with all net crimes, but they seem to be dealing with crimes caused by a secret organization known as the WWW, or World Three, fairly significantly more often. Okay, take ya pick, peoples. If a Navi name is listed on a bullet, it's taken: - Colonel.EXE (Me)

Here's the page from the MMKV listing all NetNavis, to aid in choice-making.

First of all... Isn't it redundant to port over a non-Toku series when there's at LEAST one Toku series with the same premise? I present to you... Denkou Choujin GRIDMANRegardless, you broke the link to the Navi listing; Are you planning to use the Cross Fusion versions, or just completely ignore the idea of Toku and just tack the .EXE universe onto the site for absolutely no reason?

A) fixed the link B) I'm aware of Gridman's existence. However, I don't particularly like Gridman, and I freakin' love Colonel.EXE. Gridman can still exist (If someone wants to make him, which I highly doubt) , and they'd share universes. C) There is a toku element to this. They fight through their Navi's online; they simply don't physically transform into them. Also, I feel introducing Cross Fusion might require a little unnecessary jury-rigging of the universe so we can introduce the Dimensional Area Generators in order to make it possible, so there's no point in doing it. Care to offer a rebuttal?

I wasn't asking if you were using cross-fusion as the anime used it to begin with. The point is most Navi aren't human enough for "Dude in a data shroud" angle; Punk or Desertman for example.
It'd be more sensible to just create a completely new team or start a completely separate site than to weld a massively unrelated set of ideas onto the site.

About 95% percent of all NetNavi's are at the very least humanoid, if not just resembling humans with armor.

And that justifies randomly tacking it onto a Toku site, somehow?

I'm not randomly tacking it on. I thought an entirely Net-based crime fighting unit would be a good idea, and since that's pretty much what the NetNavi's are, I figured why not. I didn't realize that I would fucking break the site by trying to work this in. This can work perfectly fine with the site, and if some minor edits are needed, then so be it. Feel free to suggest any you think are needed.

I'll need to get back to you when I have more time, but as of now, I don't know how this stands with the popular culture thing.

There's a difference between breaking the site and just not having a place on it. This is like adding Castiel onto a Castlevania site, or shoving Captain Marvelous into a Firefly site. Yes, done EXCEEDINGLY WELL, they could be VERY cool, but do you understand the kind of not just talent but discretion you'd need to do it THAT WELL? To fit the themes in question onto the site, you'd have to TWIST and BEND them so much they'd be completely different characters, and at that point it's just insulting to actual fans.
And no, for the record, NetNavi are not by default designed for anti-crime purposes. They've got basic anti-viral and Colosseum weaponry, but strictly speaking they're designed to be search engines and mailmen; Think Siri multiplied by William Gibson's vision of the Internet.

Let's see here... Colonel, SearchMan, NapalmMan, MetalMan, BeastMan, SlashMan, Fire/Flame/Heat/Torch Man, take your pick. The only type of NetNavi that argument could work for is the basic NormalNavi. Also, this is why I'm putting this thread up in the first place. So we can figure out how to work this into the site.

At least half of those were criminals to start with, and so by nature custom. Literally, only two of those Navi were originally Military to start with, and you can't walk into a store and buy a military-grade NetNavi.

Did you even read the initial post? This is intended to be a special unit. Of course they're going to have Custom Navis. And I never said they were all military, just that there is not a single non NormalNavi that is designed the way you said earlier.

Glyde and Roll are both custom non-combat navi.
Besides which, if you're so vehemently opposed to reworking the entire planet, why would you add Netnavi retroactively?
Again, you'd be better served by making a new Toku-style team, be it Riders or a Sentai, than shoehorning the .EXE universe into the site. If you're so attached to Battle Network that you can't shake the idea, just make a new site and add it to the affiliates. Hell, I'd play a dedicated battle network site, I've been looking for ages, but it just does not fit this site.

Glyde and Roll are a minority by a landslide, and even then Roll could be argued as a combat-capable Navi. Besides, I get the feeling by this point that it won't pass the pop-culture bar, and that dedicated site thing is actually not a bad idea. I'll make the site later.

Make it on a Jcink board. They've got better auxiliary functions like linked accounts and such.
And no, Glyde and Roll are not a minority; Stock navi would logically outnumber custom ones by a simply ridiculous margin because not everyone is friends with a guy who's father is a brilliant navi developer or filthy rich. Color variants and generic chip folders would outnumber S-Slasher and an actual Navicust, much less a navi with a (near-)literal soul, by a huge margin.
To drive this point home, there are even generic, mass-produced "evil" navi.
