"Damn it," John cursed, as he looked around for any way they could get out of this situation, he then spotted an armoured vehicle. Left abandoned by the defence forces when the Grinders took over, it was designed so that it couldn't be taken controlled of as he pointed it out, "how good is your driving Simon?" he asked.

"Alright then, I'll cover you, while you get to the vehicle and try to start it up. If we're lucky then we can ram ourselves out of here and back to base," John said.

"Let's hope," he said, firing a few times with his plasma blasts, clearing a hole for him to jump into. He kicked one aside and ran for the truck.

John was close behind covering him as he sliced apart a few Grinders, "Hurry!" he yelled.

Simon climbed into the truck, but there were no keys.

John saw it as he groaned, "Can you jump start it?" he asked.

"Alright, you cover me this time, I'll go and jump start it," John said as he took out a combat knife and began the process of hotwiring it.

Simon used his blaster, firing on anything that got close, but he didn't know how long it would work.

"Come on, come on," John muttered before with a final crack thevehicle roared to life, "yes! Come on inwe're going home," John yelled out.

Simon fired a few more blasts out before helping the civilian inside. He grabbed onto the side of the truck, "Go! I'll hold on and fire!"

John immediately slammed the pedal as the vehicle screeched before shooting off like a bullet, he slammed into several Grinders as the sound of crushed metal rang out.

Simon fired as they went, doing as much to keep the Grinders off of them as possible.

Before long the managed to reach the boundary line where it was safe, "Give us covering fire now!" he screamed into the radio as the defensive detail went firing into the Grinders that followed them as John screeched into a halt near the entrance as he sighed with relief.
