Kakeru smiled a little bit, and simply passed out in the nurses' arms.

She went with the nurses as often as possible to make sure that he was ok, concerned about him.

Kakeru simply laid, unconscious, in the hospital bed, awaiting procedure. Before long, the anesthesiologist came in, applying the needed anesthetics to Kakeru in preparation for surgery.

She waited by his bed, waiting for him to be done with surgery and be fine again.

The doctors wheeled Kakeru, still out cold and deep, transferring him to the bed before Kakeru's specialist turned to McKenzie. "With some rest, he should be fine. He was messed up pretty badly, with three broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, and some fairly major internal bleeding, but we patched him up good as new. But it would be best for someone to stay with him until he recovers."

She nodded, "Don't worry, I'll stay here," she told the doctor.

The doctor nodded and gave a sigh of relief. "That's good. It's rare that he has someone to stay with him, since all of his family, except for his uncle, lives in other countries." He said, setting down some papers on a counter in the room.

"I was there when he was injured, so I feel like I should stay and make sure he's ok," she told the doctor.

The doctor gave her a smile. "Well, he should be waking up in an hour or two. But he'll be pretty sore when he does, so don't let him move around too much."

"I won't," she said.

An hour and a half later, and Kakeru finally managed to regain consciousness, with a loud groan, still kind of groggy from the anesthetics. "Uuugh, anybody get the number of the MAC that hit me? Or the tanks that shot me?" He tried to raise his arm to his head, but stopped after an inch as the roaring pain shot through his arm, causing him to bellow in pain.

She got up and put her hands gently on him, "Your doctor told me to tell you not to move," she told him.

Kakeru's movement ceased as soon as he felt her hands upon him, and his attention turned to her. "Oh...I don't actually think I caught your name before." He said, groaning a bit from the remaining pain.

"McKenzie Williams," she told him, "I don't know yours either," she said.

He grunted a little in pain, having trouble fighting the urge to clutch his side, before smiling to her. "McKenzie. That's quite a pretty name. Mine is Kakeru Daishori. I'm...sorry for earlier. I must've come off as a jackass with how I was. My job makes me kind of...overly suspicious." He sighed, cringing a bit through another wave of pain.
