Sarah Markowitz twirled her hair as she waited for Javed to return with the drinks, the days were getting harder for her when it came to living a double life, as a civilian and as a Rider, and she knew Sam was starting to get suspicious over why she came home near dog-tired.
"Hey, you feeling okay", Sam asked?
"Just my insomnia being a bitch, its fine." Sarah assured her friend, not that it really convinced her roommate.
In fact, ever since the gloves came to her, and she took up the mantle as Obsidian, Sarah had been wanting answers, regarding the Riders, the gloves, everything. And she doubted she'd find anything so long as she was in SF. She had saved up at least $5000 from her jobs, and had been looking for places where she could find other riders, New York crossed up in her mind, Vegas too for some reason.
Of course, she had no idea where they were to begin with, and she'd essentially be going in blind, still, when one was finding treasure, you need to spread out.
"Is Issac coming yet?" Javed arrived with two IPA's for the girls, a pina colada for their yet to arrive guest, and a soda for himself. "Got a text from him, still stuck in traffic, should be here in a few minutes though" Sam said.
Sarah took a swig of beer, the Giants game playing on the TV screen. One of these days, she was going to have to tell Sam of what had happened, and she trusted her enough to keep a secret, for now though "Oh come on, the ump's squeezing the strike zone again!" She shouted at the TV screen.

"Hmm...not bad," Clive said as he drank his drink, it was rare that he ever come into a bar especially on a night like this. But Luna was asleep right now so all there were was him and nothing else but the drink. He didn't drink alcohol, he never drank alcohol, so why was he in the pub? Because it was the only place he could go that was open late at night and was close to the hotel he was staying in at the moment. He then saw a woman looking at the TV screen watching the games as he schooched over to her, Luna wasn't here so he could flirt with someone at the moment. "Hey there, you a Giants fan?" Clive asked.

Sarah was about to shout another expletive at the umpire on the screen (Seriously, the last pitch should have been a ball), when a stranger came up close to her, and asked her a question.
"Uhh, yeah, I'm a fan" Sarah replied to the stranger, matter of factly "What, you're one too? Or are you a Cardinals fan?" She asked regarding the opposing team. Well, it didn't seem the stranger was doing anything too creepy at the moment, just asking her a simple question.
"Friend of yours?" Sam asked, gauging the stranger with a rather interested look.

Clive chuckled, "No, no...not really interested in American football to be honest, I'm more the Manchester United kind of guy," although that was a little bit of a lie as he had never watched sports, but he heard things here and there.

"Okay...". Sarah said, something about the man seemed rather...off. And not just the fact he likely didn't watch sports, for one the game they were watching was baseball, not football. But that wasn't the only thing that made this stranger rather peculiar to her. As if he was giving off the impression there was more than what he was letting on.
At that moment, another person walked into the bar "Sorry I'm late guys" Issac said to the gang "Traffic was murder, how we doing right now?"
Javed offered him the colada "Bottom of the 3rd, man on second and Crawford's up to bat, ump's squeezing him though."

Oops...looks like he wasn't alert tonight, it was a silly mistake, but oh well...it was still 50/50 whether or not the woman would continue talking to him or not. She had a pretty face, and she seemed to display some sort of friendly aura, but in his line of work people who acted friendly tended to be evil, or a monster. She didn't look like a monster, but even he could be wrong sometimes, "So you're here with friends? College night?" Clive asked.

"Sort of, Sarah and I go way back, I'm in graduate school here, which is where I know these two gentlemen" Sam informed him, he seemed a friendly sort.
"Anyway" said Sarah "This is Sam, my roommate, the aforementioned gentlemen here are Issac and Javed. As for tonight, nothing special, just kicking back. And you are?" She asked while taking another sip of IPA.

Ah...so the two of them were friends, and so were the other two males, that made sense. But that still didn't tell him what Sarah did for a living, Sam was a student and Clive could assume the other two males were as well, but what did Sarah do? Better not push the subject if she didn't want to tell him, "Hmm? Oh yes, the name's Clive Edingburgh, pleasure to meet you."

"A pleasure to meet you Mr. Edingburgh. And its Markowitz by the way, my last name, obviously" Sarah said, saluting the gentleman with her bottle as a sign of greeting. "So what brings you to Frisco, you a student at Sam's school or just visiting"

"Pleasure," Clive replied as he saluted back in turn, "me here? Oh I'm just visiting, finishing a few errands and whatnot," he said vaguley. None need to know of his real line of work.

"Well, Mr. Edingburgh, if you're interested in knowing more about our fair city, I can point you to a few places" Sarah said with a warm smile. Beside her, Sam rolled her eyes, not out of annoyance, but it was not five minutes after meeting him and already Sarah was trying to make friends. And while she didn't mind, it was actually a quirk of Sarah's that she admired, she did wonder though whether her friend was too quick to trust people, especially if they were setting her up to break that trust
Meanwhile, Sarah continued their conversation "Anyway, can I get you a drink or something?"

"Thank you, I really appreciate that," Clive said with a smile as his cellphone then rang as he picked it up, "yes?"
"Where are you?" Luna asked.
"in a bar, you should be asleep," Clive said.
"Well I can't when there's a monster running around the city causing chaos!" Luna said, "I'm tracking it now and it's-" there was then an explosion as a Phantom appeared in the bar causing chaos, "right in front of you."
"Thanks for the warning, very much appreciate it," Clive said sarcastically as he put the cellphone away before turning to Sarah, "run now, I'll take care of this," he told them.

Sarah was about to ask what was wrong when Clive answered the phone, noticing the concerned look on his face. Then she and the other patrons noticed the monster wreaking havoc in Guerrero Street, before the explosion ripped through the front entrance.
This is so not a good time, Sarah thought regarding her situation, first would be finding a spot to transform without compromising her identity. And then Clive told her "I'll take care of this".
That's it, there was definitely something this guy was hiding...could he be? No, it couldn't...
"Sarah" Sam tugged on her friend's arm, the bartender was directing the patrons to a back entrance "Come on, let's get out of here!"
"Sam...Get going"
"What?!"
"I promise, I'll tell you everything after this is over, now go!" She insisted, reluctantly, Sam nodded and went out the door with the others.
With everyone gone, Sarah went to Clive's side, the Obsidian Gloves materializing. "Mr. Edingburgh, may I please render you assistance?"

Clive looked at Sarah and back to the Phantom before looking at her in surprise again, "Your'e a Rider?" he exclaimed in surprise, what were the chances of him running into a Rider tonight of all nights? Must be his lucky night...or unlucky he suppose, as he then turned into Judgement as the twin magic swords flew out of a portal and slashed the Phantom before finding themselves in his hands. "Let's do this then."

"Yup" Sarah answered before she too transformed. The Gauntlet formed over her right hand as she unleashed a burst of energy at the creature.
And what do you know, he was a Rider too. "So, kill the monster first, questions later?"
